In the beginning

The Wayawitmayihk Theatre Company was founded in the fall of 2000.

Our mission is simple, to provide theatre goers in Fort McMurray with access to:

Good Canadian plays with strong roles for women

Or

Good family entertainment with a focus on entertaining children

Since the beginning, the format has been to produce the dramatic piece in January and the family show in June.  We are continuing in this vein because it has been largely successful.

Occasionally, due to the fact that many Canadian plays are not yet available for amateur production, the Wayawitmayihk Theatre may have to deviate from the Canadian mandate.  It is intended that these will be rare occasions indeed.
